Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

One of my cousins went into deep depression after his girlfriend was killed in a car accident. He has been profoundly sad, avoids family and friends' gatherings, stays alone in his room, never sleeps, and simply stares at the wall. Suddenly, he starts to cry, and sometimes he gets aggressive. I am worried to see his state. His doctor said that he is suffering from major depressive disorder, and he has prescribed him Vryalor 3 mg. Will this medicine help him come out of this condition?

Hi,

We welcome you to icliniq family.

I appreciate the confidence you place in me for your healthcare consultation.

It is understandable that you are concerned about your cousin and his well-being. The loss of his girlfriend is a significant trauma, and his deep sadness, social withdrawal, sleep disturbances, crying spells, and occasional aggression are all common symptoms of major depressive disorder (MDD) in response to such a devastating event. While it is impossible to predict with absolute certainty whether Vryalor (Cariprazine) 3 mg will help your cousin overcome his depression, it has shown promise in treating MDD, especially when other forms of treatment have not been effective. Here is what you can expect:

  1. Side effects: While Vryalor is generally well-tolerated, side effects such as nausea, dizziness, insomnia, and restlessness can occur. If any of these are bothersome or persistent, it is important to inform his doctor.
  2. Treatment combination: Vryalor is often used in combination with other therapies, such as psychotherapy, which can significantly improve the overall treatment outcome.

Here are some suggestions:

  1. Encourage your cousin to take his medication as prescribed.
  2. Help him stay connected with others.
  3. Be patient and supportive.
  4. Communicate with his doctor.

I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Thank you.
