Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been experiencing chest pains whenever I get aroused or during masturbation. These chest pains lasted for 2 to 3 seconds but were very sharp. I started taking beta blockers which alleviated the pain to some degree but the pain is still there. Previously I was taking Metoprolol 25 mg. Currently, I am taking Bisoprolol 2.5 mg. The pain is usually located in my upper chest area, especially at the base of my neck. If I masturbate too long, mild chest pain lasts for 10 to 15 minutes and I feel very tired and my chest area feels weird like my heart is not working properly. I have done tests like ECG, echocardiogram, stress test, and angiography and they were all normal. I cannot tell what is causing this pain but it is making me miserable. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your question and understand your concern. At your age, it is highly unlikely to get a heart disease. No doubt that there are heart diseases that can occur at your age but they are rare and more symptomatic. When you masturbate there is an increase in heart rate thus causing increased blood demand to the heart. This is the cause of the chest pain you feel but this does not mean that you have a heart disease. You do not have to worry about it, just like while running or doing strenuous exercise this kind of chest pain may happen due to the same reason. Orgasm has a similar effect on heart activity. So you need to relax, do not get bothered about it. You need to focus more on your diet and exercise this would help you maintain your weight and your heart's ability to tolerate strenuous work. Once you build good stamina, the chest pain would also go away. Hope this helps. Thank you.
