Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had throat and nose problems for a year. My throat becomes dry while walking, I feel discomfort while breathing, and I have tiny red spots on the roof of my mouth. These spots become very painful whenever I get a throat infection, which I get twice a year during season change. I do not have a cough, sneezing, or bronchitis. My nose is sensitive to smell and pollution. Blood tests like CBC (complete blood count), liver profile, urine tests, lung function test, x-ray, etc., are all normal. Is this an allergic reaction to pollution or industrial gases?
Please suggest.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for replying.
I do not have diabetes or hypertension. There is no inflammation of the throat. I only have borderline hyperlipidemia, for which I am taking tablet Abana and cod liver oil. Now my cholesterol is below 200. I do not have any chronic diseases, no nasal congestion, obstruction, and no sinus problem. I had Fexofenadine and Montelukast, four months back for seven days, for a throat infection. I have attached a photograph of the spots in my mouth.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I have seen the picture (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity).
The spots appear harmless unless they are accompanied by pain, difficulty swallowing, or a burning sensation. I would also suggest using a combination of Oxetacaine, Aluminium hydroxide, and Milk of magnesia gel to alleviate any irritation and soothe the area. It is normal for the spots to become painful during an acute attack. However, the pictures do not show the tonsillar area. If you could send photos that include the tonsils, palate, and uvula, it would be very helpful in determining the cause of your recurrent throat pain.
I recommend taking a multivitamin for a month. Also, please avoid spicy and oily foods.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
