Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Me and my girlfriend kissed each other a few days back. After an hour or so, we both got bumps around our lips. I am worried as the bumps are still present. What to do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen your query.

I have seen the image (the attachment removed to protect the patient's identity).

It seems you have developed a cold sore or herpes labialis. Please get checked for serum HSV (herpes simplex virus) for IgG and IgM antibodies. It is an Infection of the oral mucosa seen in young adults due to HSV type 1 or rarely type 2. A primary episode usually starts two to ten days post-exposure with prodromal symptoms of burning, discomfort, or itching with fever and malaise. You can take a tablet of Acyclovir (antiviral) three times a day and 5 percent Acyclovir ointment for topical application twice daily for 5 days after consulting your specialist doctor.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
