How to boost immunity in a 3-year-old with frequent colds?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 3-year-old catches a cold frequently, whenever we go out or even if the climate changes. He catches a cold and has a runny nose almost always. I give him Cetirizine syrup when it gets severe and manage with home remedies when it is less. Are there any tips that I can follow to increase his immunity?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

As per your description, it is highly likely that your child is suffering from HRAD (hyperreactive airway disease). Such children do well with 6 months to a 1-year course of Tablet Montair 4 mg (Levocetirizine and Montelukast) once daily at night. However, please consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent. The basic problem in such cases is not immunity but the hyperactive immune response that the body mounts against outside atmospheric changes or viral infections.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
