Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been dealing with a never-ending cold, runny, and stuffy nose for a while. I have tried the usual treatment methods, and last week, I even completed a course of antibiotics (Erythromycin) that the doctor prescribed, but all these do not seem to work. I notice that my symptoms are really bad in the morning, and I am not sure if it is due to the winter that is hitting up. I want to be out of this as soon as possible. Should I take another course of antibiotics? I have some allergy issues, but apart from that, my medical history is clear. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am here to give you expert medical advice.

Since you have already taken a course of antibiotics, it is not advisable to take another course since it can cause weakness. I suggest you do the following:

  1. Warm water saline gargles.

  2. Steam inhalation.

  3. Avoid cold, sour, junk alcohol, nonvegetarian foods, and smoking.

  4. Get yourself physically examined by an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) doctor.

  5. Rule out sinusitis (inflammation of the tissues in the sinuses).

Kindly take an X-ray of the nose in PNS (paranasal sinuses) view. Also, I suggest you take B-complex multivitamin tablets to build your immunity.

I wish you good health. Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
