Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am 24 years old. I have had a severe cold for two days, along with headaches, dizziness, and vomiting. I took a medication called Biogesic, but the cold has not improved; it feels stronger, and my head continues to ache. What should I do? I have work, so should I rest in bed?
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concerns.
Thank you for providing the details. Based on your symptoms, a strong cold lasting two days, persistent headache, dizziness (a sensation of spinning), and vomiting, this appears to be more than just a simple cold.
While Biogesic (Paracetamol) can help reduce pain and fever, it does not address the underlying issues of congestion, dizziness, or vomiting, which is why you may still be feeling unwell.
I strongly recommend that you rest in bed for at least the next 24 to 48 hours. Continuing to work while experiencing dizziness and vomiting can worsen your condition and is not safe.
Be sure to stay well-hydrated by taking small, frequent sips of water or oral rehydration fluids, especially since vomiting can lead to dehydration. Try to eat light foods if you feel able to tolerate them.
You may also benefit from additional treatments, such as medication for colds to relieve nasal congestion, an anti-vomiting medicine, and possibly something for vertigo if the spinning sensation persists.
Avoid sudden movements, bright screens, and loud noises. If you develop a fever, neck stiffness, worsening headache, repeated vomiting, severe weakness, or if your symptoms do not improve within the next 24 to 48 hours, you should see a doctor in person as soon as possible for a proper examination.
So, please take bed rest, avoid pushing yourself to work for now, and monitor your symptoms closely. Your body needs time and proper care to recover.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. I would be happy to guide you. Please keep your valuable feedback for better patient care.
Thank you so much.
