Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have skin prone to comedonal acne, and I have tried numerous products, but they do not seem to work. I have attempted to address this issue by using tools, and they provide temporary relief; however, they often result in scars on my face. Do you have any suggestions to help with this problem or any product recommendations? Thank you for your assistance; it would mean a lot to me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Pimples are somewhat hormonal and often related to oily skin. Here are some recommendations:

  1. Avoid using hair oil and sticky creams on your face.
  2. Steer clear of oily foods, chocolates, and dairy products.
  3. Minimize exposure to dust and make sure to use sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30.
  4. Be gentle with your skin and avoid vigorously rubbing any creams on your face.
  5. Refrain from using any steroid creams.
  6. Make sure to continue the treatment for at least one month.
  7. Keep in mind that face washes or soaps alone are not a complete treatment and offer limited benefits.
  8. Resist the urge to touch acne and avoid squeezing it.

For treatment, I suggest you apply Clindamycin gel, which is both preventive and curative. I advise patients to use it all over their faces in the morning. Additionally, use Adapalene gel specifically on acne at night and take one tablet of Doxycycline 100mg once a day. Post-acne scars come in three types: box scars, icepick (pinpoint scars), and rolling scars. Pinpoint scars can be difficult to treat, while box scars are comparatively easier to address. No creams or tablets can effectively remove scars. The best technique involves using a CO2 Fractional laser in combination with subcision. This approach typically requires five to six sessions, but it yields better results than any other procedure. Dermaroller, in conjunction with subcision, is another method, although it tends to be less effective than the aforementioned technique. Fillers have a temporary "hiding" effect as they fill in the pits, creating the impression of fullness. However, it is important to note that this effect is not permanent. Chemical peels can be effective for scars that are not very prominent. These are techniques you can consider. All of these procedures typically require four to five sessions and around five to six months to achieve better results.

I hope your queries are resolved and any further queries are welcome. Thank you.
