I sometimes feel a little slow. Is it because of a mild concussion when I was 7?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 23-year-old woman and I had a mild concussion when I was seven years old. Will it cause a decline in intelligence? I did some examination and they revealed nothing abnormal. I stayed unconscious for a few seconds and so I went to the hospital. The doctor told me that I am totally fine. But sometimes, I have a little slow. I know that a mild concussion will always heal with time but I need reassurance. When I had a mild concussion, I went to the pediatrician. The doctor told me that everything was perfect. Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There is nothing wrong with your brain. A small injury to the brain in childhood will be got completely healed by now. If not, then the function of that part of the brain is taken by the adjoining normal brain. You experience slowness due to lack of attention to that particular event. Do not worry and it is normal and it happens with everyone. I suggest you do meditation regularly. It improves your concentration and boosts your confidence. Do not be anxious. Meditation will help you definitely when you do them regularly. Try to do yoga or mild aerobic exercise on a daily basis.
