Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
A few months back, I observed that I could not hear people speak in a low tone. Also, I was very well aware that I could listen to motor running sounds in my left ear for more than one year. I approached an ENT who said the ears were blocked and needed cleaning. Even after getting the ears cleaned, I had the same problem of hearing loss and tinnitus. I then approached another ENT who suggested an audiometry test. The results show "Conductive hearing loss" in both ears. The ENT was unsure what treatment to give and has put me on observation for ten days with prescribed medicines for cold, vitamins, zinc, anti-bacterial medicine, etc. I am neither suffering from a cold nor am I on any medication. I am not sure what to do or how to go about further in getting this condition cured. Please help and suggest.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. We need to find the cause of the conductive hearing loss. First, we need to study the audiometry report and see which frequencies have got affected and to what level. For the same, it is imperative that you upload the audiometry graph as well as the audiologist report. Next, you must undergo tympanometry with acoustic reflex study and impedance audiometry. This will help us know the middle ear condition and what exactly could be the cause of conductive hearing loss. Along the above tests, if you describe your symptoms in more detail, we can clinch the diagnosis. Kindly provide the details of all medications you have taken or are taking now for the same. Please describe if you have any earache, running nose, allergies, dizziness, muffled sounds, or bubble feeling inside the ear. If any symptom is present, please describe its duration, onset, aggravating, and relieving factors.
