Patient's Query

Hi,

I am a 23-year-old. Me and my boyfriend decided and planned to have sex. But we promised each other to consult a doctor first so that we could be safe or to prevent having a baby. My concern is, what contraception should I use or take to avoid pregnancy, except condoms? I am not taking any medications, and also I am active when it comes to sports and other physical activities.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

There are many contraceptive options, but it is better to use condoms. You can use contraceptive pills like Yasmine (Progesterone) if you do not want that. This is 21 tablets strip, which should be started from the fifth day of the menstrual cycle and continue for 21 days without missing a single pill. After completing this course, you will get your periods within two to seven days, and the next strip show starts again on the fifth day of the cycle. If you are not going to have regular intercourse, you can also use an emergency contraceptive pill if intercourse happens other than a safe period. Safe periods are those where pregnancy chances are negligible, and there is no need to use contraceptives. Five days after the menstruation and seven days before the menstruation are considered safe periods if your cycle is regular and of more than 28 days. Consult a specialist doctor and take medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
