Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 32-year-old male with hypertension and I was exposed to Covid-19 and developed symptoms the following. I had a fever, body aches, headache, and just an overall fuzziness. I have since tested positive but I have been without symptoms for the past 72 hours. Is it possible that I am done with symptoms? I am still isolating but I suffer from an anxiety disorder so this is increasing my anxiety quite a bit.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for your query. Sorry to hear about your predicament.

You need not be anxious but take adequate precautions.

The disease could be completely asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic during the entire duration in most individuals. After 7 days you need to be careful, to look out for cytokine storm-related symptoms. Most likely in your case, there may not be any or very mild and relatively uneventful.

You have one co-morbid condition, hypertension, which puts you at a slight risk. You just need to watch out for symptoms, without being anxious.

My suggestion or recommendation is for you to take the following supplements and medicaments in the meanwhile-

Rx

  1. Tablet Vitamin C 500mg 1 tablet twice daily for 15 days.
  2. Capsule Vitamin D3 60,000 IU 1 capsule once weekly for 4 weeks.
  3. Tablet Zinc 50mg 1 tab thrice daily for 15 days.
  4. Capsule Saccharomyces Boulardi (250mg) 1 capsule twice daily for 7 days.
  5. Tablet Famotodine 20mg 1 tablet twice daily for 7 days.
  6. Use any locally available brand.

In case of fever above 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit, take tablet Tylenol (Paracetamol 500mg) 1 to 2 tablets stat (not to exceed 2000 mg per day). Continue Pulse oximetry-based monitoring of SPO2 and report in case it goes below 94%.

Continue taking your antihypertensive medicine Amlodipine-Benazepril.

There are other medicines that may be required. Please call in case you need advice on the same.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
