Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My sister's COVID-19 report is positive. She had breathing difficulty, which later got minimized, but we failed to understand that it could be COVID-19. Now she has no symptoms like fever, cough, or body pain. But now, when one of her colleagues in her office is tested positive, she also underwent the test yesterday (after one month), and the report shows positive (CT value-33). Since she has no symptoms now, shall she take some medicine, or will it heal itself? She is taking Ashwagandha powder, turmeric, Chyawanprash, and steaming twice a day. Please guide whether we need to visit any doctor.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I get your concern toward your sister. She is currently asymptomatic, so there is no need to visit the doctor or worry about anything.

According to worldwide analysis, 80% of COVID-19 patients are asymptomatic or show mild symptoms. However, we also know that the Coronavirus disease is still undiscovered in many aspects, so one needs to take extra precautions while not having any symptoms.

So my advice to your sister is to take a balanced nutritious diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables and warm fluids.

Additionally, she can also take the following.

Multivitamin with Zinc and Vitamin C.

1. Tablet Vitamin C 500 mg one tablet twice daily (after lunch, after dinner) for 15 days.

2. Tablet Zinc 50 mg one tablet thrice daily (after breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for 15 days.

3. Capsule Vitamin D3 60,000 IU once weekly for six weeks.

Drink plenty and plenty of water (at least 12 to 16 cups a day). Keep a regular check of temperature and oxygen level or SpO2 (peripheral capillary oxygen) saturation. Contact or visit the authorities immediately if you have low saturation (less than 94) or any symptoms such as high fever, cough, throat pain, congestion, loss of taste and smell, breathlessness, and diarrhea, which may develop between the 4th and 9th day of illness. Stay in home isolation for 14 days.

Precautions to be taken:

1. Wear masks all the time at home.

2. Washing hands frequently with soap and water, or using good hand alcohol-based sanitizer will help.

3. Strict home isolation with no family member contact, only one person to give her food, clothes, and all essentials with adequate distance maintenance of three feet.

4. Clean and disinfect high-contact surfaces like doorknobs, light switches, tabletops, etc., using soap and water first and then with 0.1 % sodium hypochlorite.

I hope this helps you.

Stay healthy, stay positive.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
