Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 40-year-old male. I had tension at work for two years and had my first dose of the COVID vaccine. About 20 days after that, I started to have a strange feeling of dizziness and lightheadedness. Then the symptoms got worse by affecting my digestion system and causing anxiety. I had multiple checkups to find the cause of my symptoms, like having an X-ray, multiple blood tests, stool tests, and sonography. Finally, last year, my test results showed a few issues with my samples, like elevated IgE level to 2000 UI/ml, fatty liver grade 1, and gastritis.

I recently had an EEG test, with no sign of anything abnormal. So the only medicine I am taking now is Seroxat (for the last few months) to help control the anxiety. Earlier I was on Nolpaza 40, Bismuth Subcitrate, and Mebacto 200.

I would like to take your opinion if the cause of my symptoms is an allergy as the IgE level has been high for a long time, and if yes, what should I do about it? There is dizziness, feeling un-focused and lightheaded. The gassy stomach issue started two months back.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Allergy can be the reason for your problem. However, it is slightly far-fetched. We need to rule out post-COVID sequelae in you. However, please understand that COVID vaccines have also resulted in post covid symptoms like the resurgence of allergies, dizziness, and lightheadedness. Therefore, we must check your hearing with the following tests.

1. Pure tone audiogram.

2. Electrocochleography.

3. SISI (short increment sensitivity index) test.

For allergies, have you had any symptoms of runny nose or nose block, facial pressure, sneezing, itching, or throat irritation?

You can perform a skin prick allergy test to determine what you are sensitive to.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I will take those tests as soon as possible and update you about their results. Regarding the allergy signs, I have a dry nose very often, and it gets painful sometimes due to dryness. I have some skin rashes also on my scalp and around my mouth.

Regarding the IgE level, what can be the cause of it? It was 1800 UI/ml about six months ago, and 2000 UI/ml a month ago.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Once the IgE level rises, it may take months to come down fully. However, it does not come down that easily in a few individuals. Therefore, we must rule out allergies by doing an allergy test. IgE simply says that there could be an allergy that is causing the elevated IgE. What allergy it is and which agent is causing the same has to be evaluated.

At the same time, the investigations pertaining to the ear are also equally important.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
