There might be a highpoint in the bridge that creating a restlessness or pain upon biting or the dentist should have-not seen the X-ray first, might need a root canal of other teeth before preparing the bridge. If highpoints is present, simple grinding the part by your dentist will solve all the issue. But if the teeth were already exposed further shaving them for the crown initiated sensitivity and causing the issue, if that is the case - Root Canal Treatment has to be done over the bridge, to ease your discomfort.

You cannot go for a single crown as it will not be supported from any tooth, always needs minimum of two teeth (one front and one behind) extra to correct the gap for a single missing tooth.(Front and behind teeth act as pillar upon which the middle artificial tooth suspends).
