Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a question regarding my CT scan. "Short segment, small bowel distension in the left mid abdomen with questionable fold thickening of uncertain significance. No associated adenopathy, mural thickening, or mesenteric fluid". What does it mean?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
I have gone through the reports you have attached (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity).
From the report, I perceive that the short-segment bowel distension is not abnormal or is perhaps due to normal bowel motion, that is, peristalsis. The radiologist has written the other words to substantiate that this distension is not abnormal. So, I assure you that your abdomen and bowel are normal.
Another point in the report is the fusion of sacroiliac (SI) joints bilaterally. Sometimes that can produce lower back pain. If that is your case, you may need a consultation with an orthopedics doctor or a spine specialist.
Thank you.
