Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I quit drinking five years ago and smoking two years ago. I am on tablet Lisinopril, Pletal, Atorvastatin, and Isotretinoin. For about a year now, my body odor has changed for the worse (mostly the armpit area), and I have been dealing with increasingly bad cystic acne on the shoulders and chest. The odor requires two to three showers a day and is a completely new one for me, not even the same as my sweat for the past 43 to 44 years. The dermatologist prescribed on doxycycline for the acne, which did not work or affect the odor problem. I do not know if there are problems in my digestive organs, thyroid gland, or hormonal changes.Any ideas on where to start would be immensely appreciated.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I understand it is frustrating when someone does not know the reason; your medications do not explain, and none of these cause bad smells and acne.First of all, I would suggest you take the tablet Doxycycline and the tablet Isotretinoin regularly for three to four weeks. Consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent. If they do not work or get worse, see an endocrinologist. Increasing androgen (male hormones) levels can worsen these problems. In addition, your hypertension may also be related to increasing aldosterone. Again, you should see an endocrinologist if the condition does not improve.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
