Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I get small bumps on my forehead and have a lot of dark spots on my cheeks. My skin is very sensitive. I think I broke out from using a face brush or over exfoliating. My skin clears up so well in the summertime so what should I do during the colder weather?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

Well on looking at the picture (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity) there is a lot of acne on the forehead.

For treatment

Clindamycin (Clintop, Faceclin, and Clear gel) are preventive and curative. So I suggest you use it all over your face in the morning. Adapalene gel (Adalene and Defferine) use over the acne at night. Take a tablet of Doxycycline 100 mg once a day.

For dark spots

1. Avoid direct sunlight exposure as much as you can. Wear sunglasses, and caps, and cover exposed parts of the body all the time.

2. Use sunscreen thrice a day like 10 o'clock, 12, and 3 o'clock all over the face

3. Sunscreen SPF (sun protection factor) should be around 50.

4. Use anti-pigmentation creams like Kojic acid, Hydroquinone, Depiwhite cream, etc over the pigmented areas.

5. If tanning is deep and too much then the ideal treatment is Glycolic acid peels. Sittings of six to eight peels may be required.

6. Never stop using sunscreen even if tanning goes off.

Thank you.
