Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

The skin around my bottom lip on the right side has darkened overnight. I have no idea why this is happening. Initially, the skin was flaky, but now I have itching. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As per the history and image provided (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), it seems like an allergic reaction called dermatitis. It appears around the lips for multiple reasons, including eating seasonal berries, especially strawberries, exposure to a pet, and sudden dietary changes. It appears suddenly and usually goes away on its own with time. However, for a faster recovery, I suggest you do the following. Apply Hydrocortisone 1 % cream on the affected lesion only for three weeks. Take the tablet Fexofenadine 180 mg once daily at night before going to sleep for two weeks. Refrain from using any skin products for a few days. Avoid consuming berries and reduce pet exposure. Consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
