Long-standing underarm darkness and blackheads. Please help.

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having underarm darkness and blackheads for many years. I did not consult a dermatologist for this but when enquired about electrolysis I was told it will take at least 10 sessions monthly for each. I will be going abroad in three months. So I would like to know what works best as a permanent solution in these three months. I am nursing a two-month-old baby now. So please let me know what works well like chemical peels or the peels that can be done at home or any other alternatives that will work for me.

Hi,

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I understand your concern and will try to help you with it.

You can consider laser hair reduction treatment with a diode laser. It helps to reduce prominent hair follicle which looks like blackheads to you. For pigmentation, you can start application of Koji glow gel twice daily. Of course, peel give faster and better results for pigmentation. You can get 3 to 4 sitting done before leaving. That would also help. Do not try peels at home it can lead to side effects should be applied by a trained dermatologist.

Thank you for consulting me.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Which peels work best and in what concentration? Using Kojiglow gel for many days yields results? And how to use that gel? Please explain.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read and understand your concern.

There are different types of chemical peels. Glycolic acid 20 % and combination peel to reduce hyperpigmentation (Kojic acid, Lactic acid). Please do not try these peels at home it can lead to burn when not applied correctly. If you do not consider peel then Glyco-A cream can be applied daily at bedtime for two months if there is no irritation. The Koji glow gel is safe but takes time to show results twice daily over affected pigmentation area.

Looking forward to your response in order to help you.

Thank you.
