Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 28-year-old male experiencing numbness in my face, pain in the left leg, and difficulty swallowing food. My stools are foul-smelling. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

The symptoms can be due to acute dehydration. Foul-smelling stools can indicate liver disorder or malabsorption. Malabsorption can be a possibility in your case, which causes extremely weak and results in vitamin deficiency, which leads to problems like numbness. If you have persistent difficulty in swallowing food, kindly get an endoscopy. For now, I suggest you take tablet Pan 40 (Pantoprazole) once daily, 30 minutes before breakfast, for two weeks. Tablet Unienzyme (Simethicone) once daily before sleeping for two weeks. Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medication. Avoid oily or fatty food and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Have more probiotic supplements such as probiotic curd.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I am a 28-year-old male with a height of 5.10 feet and weighing 176 pounds. I do not feel hungry and have pulsating pain in my left thighs. Earlier, the pain was in my calf muscles. My bowel habits have become more frequent, once to thrice daily. I have had mucus discharge in my stool but no blood for the past two months. I feel pressure and numbness in the left side of my face, which goes away after passing stool. I have difficulty swallowing and noticed a sudden onset of yellow pus discharge from my throat a month ago. I also have white scales on either side of the inner mouth. Can it be worms? I have undergone liver function tests, complete abdomen CT (computed tomography) scan contrast, ultrasound, and renal test. All the reports are normal. I am taking antibiotics like Flagyl, Safecef Cv, and Ofla OZ. I also take Pan D, Rabeprazole, and Imbiota. I was hospitalized for two days and received continuous Metrogyl as doctors suspected a bacterial infection. After which, the symptoms resolved for two weeks and reappeared again. I recently consulted an ENT specialist for sores in my tongue and mouth, which are of sudden onset. Please advise me on further diagnosis, treatment, and diet.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

The white things on both sides of the mouth can be due to several causes. It can be due to leukoplakia, candidiasis, or can even be due to bacterial infection. You have not received any treatment pertaining to your throat infection. If you have yellow pus, it definitely indicates a bacterial infection. I feel your management has not been proper, and you have not recovered properly. For the last few months, you have had an alteration in your bowel habits. It is too early to say, but it can be due to IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). The pressure in the face and the pulsating pain in the thighs can indicate raised intra-abdominal pressure, which can manifest with cramps and is relieved on passing motion. Since you are passing mucus, it can again indicate a parasite infestation. Before starting the treatment, get a stool test for ova, cysts, and parasites. The recent onset of sores can be due to the antibiotics you used. You have not been given any multi-vitamin, causing vitamin deficiency. I will advise you on a bland diet for the next few days till you recover with lots of vegetables. Small meals are better and take more probiotics and vegetables. Please avoid oily or spicy food it will only aggravate your problems. Along with diet, I suggest the following medicines :

1) Tablet Mebendazole single tablet on first, and take another after three days. This cures parasite infestation in the bowel. It is better if you can give your stool for examination before taking this medicine.

2) Tablet Levofloxacin 500 mg twice daily for seven days. The tablet is taken after food.

3) Tablet Dicyclomine twice daily for abdominal cramps.

4) Tablet PAN 40 (Pantoprazole) once in the morning before breakfast for two weeks.

5) Tablet Unienzyme (Simethicone) once every night before sleeping for two weeks.

6) Tablet Cobadex CZS (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride and Nicotinamide) one tablet every night for two weeks.

Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medication.

Take the drugs properly. Please follow up if you need further assistance.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
