Patient's Query

.Hello doctor,

I would like to consult with you about my ultrasound photo. Can you please help me diagnose based on ultrasound reports of the uterus? I had unprotected sex a few days ago and two days after that was the last day of my period. Is it safe during that day? I have had a history of polycystic ovaries. Kindly suggest further regarding this, as I have still not got my period. I am very much confused. What is the shadow-like fetus inside the photo? Do I have polycystic ovaries again? If yes, what are the medications I need to take to have my period? Please help me through this. The attached photo of the ultrasound is a recent one. I hope I have given you a perfect shot of my uterus. I have done blood tests for pregnancy twice which were negative. Kindly review the photo and give suggestions.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern. I have seen all the photos (attachment removed to protect patient's identity) and it looks like the uterus only. And ovaries are not visualized in this scan, I think, that the dark part looks like a uterus. Secondly, if the urine pregnancy test is negative then you are not pregnant and it is delayed menses. It may be due to polycystic ovaries, may be due to stress, or hormonal imbalance. There are many reasons that can cause delayed periods. And yes, it is a safe period if you have unprotected sex on that day and pregnancy cannot occur if you have unprotected sex during a safe period. You may have to take oral progesterone-like Primolut-N (Norethisterone) tablets for five days to get your period. The period will come a few days after stopping the tablets. For polycystic ovaries, you have to take tablets in between and there is more chance of irregular menses with it. And you may have to take tablets if you want regular periods. I also suggest you drink more water. And consult a nearby Gynecologist. May have to do some hormonal tests like FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), LH (luteinizing hormone), Prolactin, AMH (Anti-mullerian hormone), BSL (blood sugar levels), insulin, and haemogram these tests may give some idea you for irregular menses. I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
