Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had protected sex on the fourth day of my periods. And I did not take any emergency contraceptive pill after that. Now I am eight days late. Am I pregnant? Please suggest some medicine to bring my periods. I am a hypothyroidism patient and was suffering from irregular periods for almost 13 years but from last one year under medication and am working out. I was having my periods regularly.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As you were on the day four of your cycle, which was your safe day and also that the sex was protected, the chances of pregnancy are minimal. However, the best way to rule out pregnancy anyways would be to get a urine pregnancy test done at home with a home pregnancy kit. If the test is negative then you can be sure that you are pregnancy safe and the delay is likely to be stress induced during this cycle. In that case, you may then opt for a withdrawal bleed with Progesterone tablets.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, I am sure it was the fourth day of periods. Please suggest the name of Progesterone tablets.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Please follow up with urine pregnancy test report through follow up. If it is negative then you may take Progesterone withdrawal option.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

The test is negative. Please recommend the Progesterone tablets.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The test as I can see is negative (attachment removed to protect patient identity). You may now opt for tablet Medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) 10 mg, 1-0-1 for five days. Once you complete the dose, then in next 5 to 7 days you shall get your withdrawal bleed or menses.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
