Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My due date for the periods was last week. I am not on my periods yet. Please advise which tablet I can take to induce periods safely. I am sexually active and do not wish to be pregnant. Hence please suggest pills for a safe period start.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There can be many reasons for delayed periods, the most common is pregnancy. Therefore since you are sexually active, you must get a urine pregnancy test. If it is negative, you can wait for one week for your periods to come independently. If still periods do not start, we will give hormonal pills. But for now, eat healthily, and get one pregnancy test done.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

The Probable causes

Hormonal disturbances.

Investigations to be done

Urine pregnancy test and thyroid profile.

Probable diagnosis

Secondary amenorrhoea.

Regarding follow up

Follow-up after one week.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am afraid. I do not want to get pregnant. So if my test comes positive by chance, this can be terminated by pills? Please help.

Answered by Dr. Aditi Laad

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It is not late. But it would be best if you got yourself tested for the same. Get a urine pregnancy test done. If positive, you will also have to get an ultrasound to see if all is well. I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

If I am positive, will these pills help me get rid of pregnancy? Please advise.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I will not be able to prescribe any medications. You will have to visit a local doctor. And yes, the pill can help you if taken within a proper time. I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I got my pregnancy test done. It shows only one clear line that means negative. Please guide me further.

Answered by Dr. Aditi Laad

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Have a good diet. One clear line means it is negative. So nothing to worry about. Wait for one week. Most likely, you will get your periods. I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
