Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am five days delayed now and feel light to moderate cramping for almost one week and sometimes nausea. I took the pregnancy test, the cheapest one and the result is weird because instead of a pink or red line, it shows a white line. And also I have a UTI. Is it possible that I am pregnant? And pregnancy test kit could not detect it?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are right. Urine pregnancy test and transvaginal scan are unable to detect very early pregnancy. So, for that, we can use a blood pregnancy test (serum beta hCG). It is clearly detecting pregnancy status. For urine infection, you can have a urinalysis and urine culture, lots of water and cranberry juice. If infection positive then discuss here or with a local gynecologist. In case of bleeding with abdominal pain and positive pregnancy test, you need to report to tertiary care hospital's emergency. So do not delay. Do serum beta hCG (blood pregnancy test) now as urgent and then discuss it with your presenting symptoms.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
