Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 25 years old, and I have had regular cycles throughout my life, but I missed my period last month. The doctor suggested Meprate for five days, and I have started getting brown spotting last night. Does this normally happen while consuming this tablet? After how many days will I get my regular period on stopping this tablet?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern, and let me help you with this.

Usually, with Meprate, it takes 7 to 10 days after stopping medicines for your periods to come. Brownish discharge is fine initially, and you will get the flow also. As you are already having spotting while taking medicine, you will definitely get periods once you finish your medicines. Medicine for three days is also fine, so if you have taken for three days already, you can stop now and wait for your periods. Let me know if there is any other concern. I just wanted to know if there were any chances of pregnancy, so you must rule out that with a urine pregnancy test.

Thanks. Take care and let me know.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

No chance of pregnancy because I am not at all sexually active. Any reason for skipping periods? Stress or a hormonal balance? I was thinking of getting a thyroid test done just in case anything is serious.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Do not worry.

Sometimes it happens because of stress, lifestyle changes, or maybe hormonal. Skipping periods once or twice is fine, but if it keeps happening, then you must get yourself tested. The thyroid is fine. You can get it checked now as well. I would advise you to change your lifestyle a little bit if needed. Have healthy food, start working out, go to the gym. This all helps to regularize the cycles. If it does not work, then we can get you tested. So relax and take care. First time is not an issue.

Take care.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

How many days do your periods usually last? It’s going to be the same or can be a day or two less or more. Relax. Once or twice it can happen, but if it keeps happening, we will get you tested. Take care

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

It usually lasts seven days. Will I be getting my period after this bleeding as well? When will my average period resume? I mean, would the cycle change?

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Ridhi Narang

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, you will get your periods as earlier, and if you don’t get them as I told you, we can get you tested. The cycle might change as well. We can’t predict with just one cycle delay. So don’t worry much. Keep a check on your diet and start working out, if not till now. Take care.Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
