Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex during the safe sex period and with improper penetration. It was not there for more than two seconds. But despite these precautions, my periods are late. According to the previous month's period date, this month it has been delayed. Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

WeIcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Delay in your periods can be due to the following reasons:

  1. Pregnancy (chances are less). Still considering your history of unprotected sex – make sure you do a urine pregnancy test to know the cause.

  2. Any infection – If there is white discharge you can use tab Doxy (Doxycycline) 100mg twice a day for five days.

  3. Hormonal issues – Check for TFT (thyroid profile test).

  4. PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)– Get ultrasound abdomen.

  5. Anemia – Check for hemoglobin levels.

  6. Vitamin deficiency – Check for folic acid, vitamin B, and vitamin D.

  7. Dehydration – Make sure you take adequate water.

For now, I suggest you take tablet Livogen (Ferrous fumarate and Folic acid) once a night and plan for investigation so we can plan for management. I hope this information helps you.

Thank you.
