This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was prescribed Ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone tablet, and ferrous fumarate tablets for 28 days. I have never taken a birth control pill before. However, I took it to delay my periods. What is the right way to take the medication to delay periods?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. You have taken birth control or oral contraceptive pills along with iron. You have not mentioned your complete history regarding menstruation, drugs, and medicine that would be more beneficial. The entire female body is affected by the reproductive phase and the absence of specific hormones. The medications, stress, anxiety, strenuous exercise, strict diet, and hormonal imbalance can delay normal periods, similar to polycystic ovaries. For delaying periods, normally give only one tablet of Primolute N. You have taken a combination of hormones that can affect you differently. If you do not have any hormonal and menstrual problems safe side better to start taking tablets a week to 10 days before the expected period date. Take the tablet of 10 mg twice daily and stop five days before the period or when you want to have periods. You can have irregular bleeding, spotting, breast tenderness, bloating, heaviness or puffiness of your face and body, etc.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
