Why am I having delayed periods with hot flushes, dizziness and fever?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18 years old. My period is always regular and exactly on time (every 34 days x 7 days of bleeding each time) but this time it is two weeks late. I am getting hot flushes, fever, I am cold all the time, dizzy, lightheaded, very weak. My abdomen is cramping and hurting, been so for a few days, the discharge has not changed since ovulation. I am very emotional, crying all the time. I cannot be pregnant, I am single and a virgin. I have a healthy weight, do not have any eating disorders, have not been under lots of stress or anything similar lately. I am just so scared. Feels like period cramps but less intense. Been going on for days. I really do not know what to do. I do not want to go to a gynecologist. I am afraid and really not ready for that. I just want all this to go away and to get my period back. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

According to your history and symptoms, it seems that nothing is wrong with your body system. Sometimes, periods get disturbed. Your symptoms are pointing towards signs of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and I feel that you are panicked by the situation which is making the condition worse. I would suggest that you have not to worry about it and just wait for a few more days. Hopefully, your cycle would resume by itself because unrecognized stress results in delaying of the cycle.
