Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been having unprotected sex and have not got periods yet. Recently I have gained weight and have been suffering from PCOD. Could I be pregnant?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq and thank you for choosing us as your provider for medical care.

Chances of getting pregnant in unprotected sex are more likely due to precum if the intercourse date is around ovulation time. So make sure to rule out pregnancy by doing beta hCG of blood or urine pregnancy test (urine test is not 100 % reliable sometimes). The delay may be due to other reasons such as:

  1. Anemia.
  2. Hormones imbalance.
  3. Thyroid problems
  4. Infection of either the urinary tract or pelvic floor response
  5. Get the following tests done:

    1. Thyroid profile.
    2. Pap smear of vaginal discharge for microbiology and others like cervicitis.
    3. Urine routine and culture test.
    4. Hb level and peripheral smear study.
    5. Fasting and postprandial blood sugar levels.
    6. Ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis.
    7. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
