Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My grandmother is 72 years old. She often forgets to do her daily tasks nowadays. Sometimes, she also forgets the faces and names of her family members. I think that she started having symptoms of dementia. Could you please explain what dementia is and how it affects the cognitive functions of older individuals? I am particularly interested in learning about the various types of dementia and the differences in their underlying causes and symptoms. Furthermore, I would like to gain insights into the potential impact of dementia on the overall health and quality of life of older individuals. How does dementia affect a person's daily activities, such as memory, communication, and decision-making? Please help.

Thankyou.

Hello

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Yes, it is dementia, there are various types of dementia but the most common is Alzheimer's dementia, Vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, and Senile dementia. Several other types of dementia are there but you need to contact me in person for a better understanding. The underlying etiology is the same but I am certain dementia can reverse if the underlying cause is treated.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.
