Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a bridge on my teeth which was 30 years old and it came off. My dentist suggested me to do an implant bridge. He temporarily did two post and core support to hold the provisional and made a temporary one. But he is asking me to remove four teeth to do the implant bridge. Is it not possible to make a permanent bridge over my new post and core? And if not, why do I need to remove four teeth? Can I remove just two teeth and use the post and cores for additional support?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and will help you with your query.

If those four teeth have full bone support and are not mobile, then you can place a bridge over it and there is no need for an implant. But I cannot confirm it without seeing a picture or an X-ray of the area. You should ask more strongly about the bridge and then he may consider it. Sometimes the bone support of such teeth becomes very less making the teeth mobile over which no bridge can be supported. The bridge has to be supported from both ends. So it is not possible to have a bridge by just using two teeth.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
