Is it better to do root canal for preserving the carious tooth?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 18 years old, and I am suffering from a carious tooth in premolar (upper left). Today it has got broken from the mid-portion. But the contaminated root is still present there. What can I do now? Is it better to do a root canal?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the query. If you want to preserve your teeth, you can go for a root canal treatment. After that, you are given a post and core procedure, and finally, you will get a crown placement. This is the best management. If it is grossly decayed with root resorption, you can remove it.
