What could be done to manage a cyst persisting for years?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have had a cyst on the root of my tooth for the last four years, and am not sure if the tooth was infected as it did not cause any pain.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It can be a swelling caused due to the infection in the tooth. I suggest you consult and take the following medications for the swelling to subside.

1. Tab. Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid) 625 mg twice daily after food for three days.

2. Tab. Metronidazole 400 mg twice daily after food for three days.

3. Tab. Ultracet (Tramadol and Acetaminophen) twice daily after food for three days.

4. Tab. Pantaprazole twice daily half an hour before food for three days. Consult your doctor and take the medicines accordingly.

Once the swelling subsides, I suggest you take an OPG (full mouth x-ray) to assist you further.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you need any help.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

I have had it for a long time. Also, I am consulting a dentist next week. Will the dentist remove my tooth?

Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It is not necessary to extract the tooth. I suggest you take the medications prescribed and an OPG to assist you further.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
