Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am on Depot injection, and I have missed the shot for over ten days now. I have not started bleeding yet. When I was on the shot before, I bled when I got off the shot. Now, how would I know if I am pregnant?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Depots are progesterone and amenorrhea - the absence of periods and irregular periods are known complications. Also, since you have missed the next shot by ten days, the effectiveness of the Depot is lost in this cycle. It would be wise to use an additional mode of contraception, like a condom, in this cycle. You do not need to worry. Just get a serum beta hCG test (human chorionic gonadotropin) done and review with reports. I suggest Duphaston withdrawal will be the best-suited option for you, according to your current status. Duphaston withdrawal will induce your periods.

Investigations to be done

Serum beta hCG.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
