Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My brother was diagnosed with depression a few weeks back. He used to be silent most of the time. Sometimes, he will be happy and active, and at times, he will stay blank and start to cry. We do not know what is wrong with him. I hope it is curable. However, the doctor gave him Brexpiprazole 2 mg. He has been taking this medicine for the past three weeks, and we noticed that he has gained weight; he says he feels drowsy and restless. We are a little worried about this. Could it be due to the medicine he takes?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Your brother may have a major depressive disorder with psychosis. He is on a good antipsychotic, but he has side effects of the medication. Ask his doctor to change his medication or reduce his dose of medication. Add another medication like the tablet Escitalopram 10 mg daily in the morning.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.
