Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Basically, I am unable to do things I want. I just impulsively do things for instant gratification and have no perseverance. I have a severe chronic procrastination and maladaptive daydreaming. They are sought of related. My mind gets super stressed and while I am procrastinating the task I start daydreaming and talking to myself. Because of this, over the last few years my self-confidence and self-belief has dwindled completely. I also suffered from moderate depression. I think it came up because of stress only. I cannot focus and cannot do anything I want to. I would like to change that. Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The procrastination and daydreaming is because you are preoccupied most of the time. Depression is a disabling illness and causes significant morbidity which goes unnoticed by the family most of the time. Do not feel guilty for the happenings, which is not under your control. Also, you may require regular treatment for depression and follow up. You require antidepressants to bring you back to the premorbid level of functioning. I suggest Zosert 50 mg (Sertraline) twice daily and Lonazep 0.5 mg (Clonazepam) at night for two weeks. Consult your doctor, discuss with him or her and take the medicine with consent. Thank you.
