Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had a septoplasty and turbinate removal two months ago. I have taken medicines only for three weeks after the surgery. Now, I am not taking any medications and I have a feeling of stuffy nose again. There is also swelling in the nose. I am breathing great but the problem is with the smell. I am not able to differentiate between smells. Kindly suggest treatment.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
There could be two possible reasons for your problem. 1. The surgery did not correct your problem completely. 2. You seem to have an allergy. The surgery you underwent may have left some deviated septum and turbinate hypertrophy. So, you still have a stuffy nose. The other thing is that you may be allergic, which can cause a stuffy nose and a decreased sense of smell. I suggest you take Fluticasone steroid nasal spray, two puffs twice daily in each nostril for 15 days. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take the above medicines with their consent. Take steam three to four times a day.
