Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother is a diabetic for the past 7 years. I wanted to know if Semaglutide injections can be preferred for my diabetic mother. She is already on Insulin injections and her HbA1c is 8.7. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your first query consult is on us. I understand your interest in Semaglutide as it has a lower frequency of dosing which can be more convenient for your mother. However, before starting any medication it is important to consider the other aspects of the patient's overall health - for eg. if she has other comorbidities like hypothyroidism, hypertension, obesity, history of stroke or heart disease, etc. and what is her current health status. Though her HbA1c is on the higher side and she definitely needs an additional antidiabetic medication to her current regimen, choosing the next one needs to take into consideration all the above factors. So I would advise you to get her examined and consult your nearest physician and not start any medication on your own. Hope this helps.
