Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My 10 months old son gets loose motions very frequently from the last two months. He was also admitted one time. Again he is having loose motions. I am giving him Econorm sachet. Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

  • Frequent diarrhea and infection do occur at this age, as babies put many things in their mouth, which leads to contamination and infection. Hence, you have to take utmost care regarding the hygiene.
    • Secondly, if there is any bottle feeding, please stop it gradually, as this also can cause recurrent diarrhea. Maybe, there is some food which is not suiting him, which needs to be identified.
      • For now, continue Econorm sachet (Saccharomyces Boulardii). Also, give Z & D drops (Zinc) 1 ml, every day for two weeks. A stool test may also help. So, consult with your pediatrician for further management.

Answered by Dr. Preeti Puranik
Good evening The report is normal. So the cause is not bacterial infection . It can be viral which reduces by itself in a week . To know other reasons of this reccurent diarrhoea, pediatric gastroenterologist is the right person to guide as suggested by your pediatrician If diarrhoea does not subside by 7th day please consult a pediatric gastroenterologist

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
