Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had a severe bout of vomiting (norovirus) nine days ago. While vomiting, I felt an intense pressure behind my left eye and the sudden swelling of the eyelid and binocular diplopia. After nine days (today), the left eye is still droopy, and I have lost the crease in the eye fold. I still have diplopia in the morning, but it subsides within 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the droopiness does not improve much over the last few days. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for the crips photos (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity); they were helpful. The swelling in the left eye seems to have subsided by almost 90%. I hope it will subside completely in some time. Regarding the present pain, I suggest using dry, hot fomentation twice a day and lubricating eye drops. The left eye crease seems less prominent and droopy as some edema is still present; we will wait and watch for its recovery on its own. Diplopia in the morning, as it lasts for only a short while, may recover; hence we will wait and watch for it. Regards.
