Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 27 years old female. I am taking Dronis 30 mg from the last month. My period cycle is 27 to 28 days. But, I was getting my period from 30 to 32 days. Is it normal? This time, I got my periods after 37 days. Is this normal after taking Dronis or is it irregular? I am also trying for pregnancy.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Dronis is a contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy. You will not become pregnant if you take it. You should stop it if you want to become pregnant. The cycle is normal when it is from 21 to 35 days. Nothing to worry. If you have irregular periods, do serum TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) and serum prolactin on empty stomach tomorrow morning and let me know your report. If you have any hormonal imbalance, it can be corrected with medicine and your periods will be regular and you will become pregnant. Also, do USG pelvis by transvaginal scan to see if you have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). Take tablet Folic Acid 5 mg once daily after food since you are planning a pregnancy.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I do not have any hormonal problem. I am trying for my second baby. I have a first baby delivered by C-section. I have irregular periods only for the last two months. Before that, I had periods cycle of 27 to 28 days.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can develop hormonal problems at any time. Since you have symptoms of irregular periods from two months, I suggest you do the above tests and do a scan and let me know the report. When was your last menstrual period? Since how many months are you trying for a second pregnancy? Do serum TSH and serum prolactin blood test, 75 g OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test) on empty stomach tomorrow morning and let me know the report. Also, do USG pelvis by a transvaginal scan.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

We are trying for six months for the second baby. I am not taking any tablet except Dronis 30, and I completed taking 21 tablets of Dronis. My last period was in last month for about 3 to 4 days.

Answered by Dr. Tara Devi

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As you have finished one cycle of Dronis, you can stop it as you are trying for pregnancy. Wait for your period to happen this month. If your periods are between 28 to 32 days, try to have intercourse on alternate days from 9 to 23 days from your period. Start taking tablet Folic Acid 5 mg once daily. Send me your scan and blood test results after you get them.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
