Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a dry mouth for the past several months. I have a skin tag on the left frenulum of the tongue from yesterday. What should I do for my skin tag? Is this normal? It feels like something is stuck under my mouth. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Generally developing something unusual is not a good sign. Dry mouth can be indicative of using some medications or radiation or mostly salivary gland obstruction or generally dehydration may also cause it. My main concern is the skin tag at the left frenum.

Kindly upload an image to me to rule out other serious possibilities. My only concern is to rule out serious possibilities like ranula. For that reason, I would request you to upload an image to me as soon as possible.

For now, apply Rexidine M forte gel, Betadine (Povidone iodine 2%) mouthwash gargle in lukewarm water twice or thrice a day. But I need to see the image to rule out the dry mouth issue.

I hope this helps.

The Probable causes

Dry mouth occurs when salivary glands do not produce enough saliva. It might be due to any medication or radiations or frequent use of mouthwash or even a salivary duct obstruction. Obstruction in salivary duct below tongue can also cause a swelling that resembles skin tag.
