Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My last menstrual cycle was three weeks ago and had one heavy bleeding on one day and the following three days, I only had spotting. I have had continuous warm icy hot sensation through my stomach, 97 degree Fahrenheit and higher body temperatures, and had milky white discharge. This week I had clear sticky jelly discharge and yesterday a thick glob of clear jelly discharge. I believe it is too early to test but are my signs consistent with pregnancy? I have been having hot flashes, always sleepy, and get unnecessarily emotional. Please help me out.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If you have had heavy menses eighteen days ago and early ovulation possibly on ten days ago that is day 9 of the cycle. Milky white discharge is common during mid-cycle ovulation period. The present discharge on day 19 of the cycle is thick, curdy, white jelly. The discharge appears to be mucoid cervical discharge and is physiological, not infective. The sleepiness, mood swings can always be a part of premenstrual symptoms unless pregnancy is ruled out. I suggest you to get a serum beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) test done to rule out pregnancy which is a blood test and can be done eight days after the last intercourse to rule out pregnancy. If the hCG levels are less than 5 mIU/ml. then you are not pregnant.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you doctor for the reply.

I have had a burning sensation in my inner stomach since weeks. It has been very consistent. Please help.

Answered by Dr. Sameer Kumar

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The burning sensation in the pelvic region can be due to dyspepsia, constipation, or possible ongoing urinary tract infection which can typically cause the burning sensation. Pregnancy does not cause any burning in inner stomach. I suggest you to get the serum beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) test done and also rule out urinary infection with a urine routine microscopy test. You may follow-up with reports.

Regards.
