Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 37-year-old male. Five days back I went to a swimming pool and water entered my ears. In my right ear, I feel there is water that is not coming out and it feels like something is stuck inside. I am able to hear very less from my right ear. In my left ear also, I have almost 30 % hearing loss. Last year water entered my ears during a shower and I had the same feeling then also. It took about two to four months for my ear to heal completely. Now, I have no pain in any ear. But it is frustrating being unable to hear others easily and always asking them to repeat what they are saying. Please help. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. The sensation of fullness, reduced hearing, and the history of recent swimming indicate you could have an ear infection. I would like to know if you have a high body temperature or if any fluid is draining from your ear. I would suggest a microscopy, culture, and sensitivity test of any fluid draining from your ear. Ear infections are usually treated with antibiotic ear drops and drugs to control possible fever. The antibiotic ear drops should be combined with a steroid medication as that can help with the sensation of fullness. I hope I have been of help. Thank you.
