Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My 11-month-old baby always rub her ears, and I thought that was normal in babies. After a few days, we consulted a doctor. He said it was an ear infection. The ear smelled, but she had no pain or irritation.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Ear infection with ear discharge may not have any pain, and it is possible. Discharge from the ear may be a clear fluid or a dirty off-white color (pus). The smelly, dirty yellowish, or off-white color discharge goes in favor of pus and needs antibiotics. Recurrent ear discharge needs a proper evaluation for the cause. Another point is weight. At 11 months, it is 16.9 pounds, which needs attention.

Thank you.
