Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
For the past five days, I have been experiencing ear pain, not outer pain but inside the ear canal. It started a day after one of my piercings got infected and started bleeding. I have not taken any type of medication. The piercing has healed, but my ear still hurts. My sleep schedule is messed, and I sleep around 7 am. My ears are fine all day or when I wake up around 6 am. It starts to hurt very bad during the time I am in bed using my phone, trying to sleep. What should I do?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The most common reason to have pain is due to dermatitis, which has led to an infection. Dermatitis occurs due to the reaction of the metal piercing with the skin. You can start Tablet Ciplox (Ciprofloxacin) 500 mg one tablet two times a day after food for the next five days. In addition, please do any analgesic of your choice when the pain gets intolerable. You can also consider applying an antibiotic steroid combination cream over the affected area. Make sure that if the symptoms persist, it is better to remove the piercing and opt for another less irritative metal surface to prevent recurrence of the same problem in the future. Do not worry too much about this, as it will slowly come down with time. I hope this answers your query. If there is anything more you want to know or inquire about, please let us know.
