HomeAnswersNeurologyeegI had episodes of falls while sitting, standing, and walking, and I hurt myself. Why?

Can the jerks in the EEG be due to some temporary electrical activity which causes falls?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am getting episodes of falls while sitting in a chair or sofa, standing, walking, and hurting myself. This episode lasts for about 2 to 3 minutes. I am not aware or conscious at the time of the falls, and I recover after 2 minutes. The EEG shows some jerks at periodic intervals. Is the EEG showing some temporary electrical activity at the point of a jerk in the EEG? Kindly interpret the EEG reports. The neurologist has given me Levepil 500 mg twice daily. Are these jerks in the EEG causing the falls? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your symptoms could be related to epilepsy seizures. The EEG shows a lot of muscle artifacts and ocular artifacts. There is also focal slowing in the fronto- central leads, which could be related to these attacks of falling. I would also recommend performing an ambulatory 24 to 48 hours ECG (electrocardiogram) to investigate for possible cardiac arrhythmia.

I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
