What could be the reason for my husband's unconsciousness and nightmares?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My husband is doing quite well at the moment but feels mentally knocked out and suffers from nightmares. He is currently on medication with tablets Metrorolol 50 mg, Enalapril 7.5 mg, Eliquis 5 mg, and Stilnox, which he takes at night. His vital parameters are stable, except his blood pressure is a little low, 110/85 mm of Hg. Blood samples have been taken, and he is a bit high in his creatinine of 175 micromoles/L, potassium of 5.2 mmol/L, and NT-proBNP of 850 pg/mL.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Get him physically examined by nephrologist. Maintain his vital chart. Keep him well-hydrated. Regular follow up with the treating doctor to understand if any medicine needs to be adjusted. Long-term medications need to be monitored to avoid side effects.

Few things that you can do at home to make it easier.

1. Limit screen time.

2. Practice walking, yoga, exercise, and deep breathing meditation as health permits.

3. Eat a healthy balanced diet.

4. Limit junk food and alcohol.

5. Read a positive book before bedtime.

6. Keeping a dim light on at sleep.

7. Making the overall home environment calm, happy, and positive.

8. Keeping him engaged and occupied in his passion or profession.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
