What causes light bleeding for six days after Unwanted-72?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I took an unwanted 72 after almost one week since my periods ended. I started bleeding on the same date, but I am not bleeding properly. Extremely low bleeding and does not even fill a pad. And it is been six days, but I am still bleeding very lightly. I am very worried.

Please advice.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I hope you find my consultation useful. First and foremost, there is nothing to worry about at all. Unwanted 72 tablets have this side effect of uterine bleeding due to the drug's mechanism of action. Unwanted 72 does its job via changes in your endometrium (uterine lining), making it unsuitable for pregnancy. Unfortunately, these changes lead to irregular bleeding in the ongoing cycle. The amount is scanty because it has been only a week since your last period, and your endometrium (uterine lining) is not as thick as before your regular cycles. Your condition is self-limiting, and you will return to your regular rhythm in a few weeks.

Take care.
